How to Develop GOD Confidence

As a believer in Christ, you have the very source of confidence with you at all times:

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13).

Courage and confidence are two sides of the same coin; If you are courageous enough to do what you know is right, then confidence will surely follow!

One group of young men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, were courageous enough to do the right thing (see Daniel Chapter 3).

Even after being threatened with death by fire if they didn’t worship a golden image of King Nebuchadnezzar, they held firm to their faith in the eternal God and refused to accept a substitute.

That is a great lesson on your weight loss journey. You must be willing to do the right thing to protect your health, even if the benefits are not immediately visible to you.

This means doing the necessary tasks to achieve your goals for their own sake and taking pleasure in their completion. This helps you enjoy the process until the results you seek come into your life.

Now Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego did not receive admiration for their commitment to doing the right thing.

King Nebuchadnezzar became angry and commanded that they not only be thrown into the furnace, but that it be heated seven times hotter than normal. It was so hot that it even killed those men who were charged with throwing them in.

However, the scriptures tell us that when the king looked inside of the furnace, instead of three men, there were four men and the fourth man looked like the Son of God.

Because the fourth man was there, they were not harmed by the blaze; they did not even have the smell of fire on them!

This astonishing result was powerful enough to make a pagan king praise God. Remember that you are never alone in your battles; you always have the Fourth man!

Even when your situation looks hopeless in man’s eyes, you must believe that God works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

That means you! Your victory will be a powerful testimony to those who are still in bondage.

It will speak to non-believers about God’s goodness, and his ability to heal and deliver us from destructive lifestyles.

Here’s another benefit of success: When you achieve your goals, the following names of God will be declared boldly and confidently to those around you:

  •  JEHOVAH-RAPHA: This name means “The Lord Who Heals” and is used in Exodus 15:26. This represents God as a physician and implies that He heals, not just physical wounds, but heals spiritual and emotional ones.
  • JEHOVAH-SHALOM: This name is translated as “The Lord Our Peace.” The implication is that God brings contentment and fulfillment to those who are in right relationship with Him.
  • JEHOVAH-NISSI: This name means, “The Lord is my Banner.” It conjures up an image of God as a warrior on the battlefield. It shows Him as a guiding light; He gives us assurance that He will lead us into battle and secure our victory.
  • JEHOVAH-SABAOTH: “The Lord of Hosts” demonstrates God’s role as military commander, overseeing the armies of heaven and earth. It also reminds us that the battle is not ours, but the Lord’s. When David went to fight Goliath, he told Goliath that he was coming in the name of the Lord of hosts and that God would deliver Goliath into his hands (see 1 Samuel 17:45-47).
  • JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH: “The Lord is there” gives us confidence that the Lord is with us, an ever present help in times of trouble (see Ezekial 48:35).

God also makes a promise to us regarding his faithfulness in Isaiah 43:2 (NKJV): “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you.”

God’s greatest plan was the one He conceived to give you victory over sin. Remember that you are part of this wonderful triumph. You have an awesome responsibility as a believer.

While your name is written in the Lamb’s book of life, the details of your story are ongoing; they are being written with every choice you make.

Realize that the choices you make are not just affecting you, but the people that God destined for you to help.

I hope this has convinced you that you are fighting from a position of victory and have renewed confidence that God can help you overcome any challenges you face!
