I think anything is better and easier to do if you take it one step at a time. This program has been really healthy and easy. I have noticed that I don’t like to invest the time in the mornings to stretch though, so this is a habit I want to break. I need to realize how important it is to take good care of myself and how much better I will feel when I do. One step at a time. I think I will use the morning stretch as a way to connect to God first thing and use it as a worship time.

What is going well with your Small Steps weight loss plan? (I have been able to stay consist with most everything.)
What habits do you need to adjust at this point? (Step-up & Step Down follow thru.)
What will you do differently to adjust? Make a print & put on wall where I do my devotional time, & journal with more specifics. Read my affirmations with related Scriptures out loud.)
Fortunately 4 me, I have all the food items & I have adjusted to Stevia & agave!

Hi, I just wanted to say that I’ve been taking your challenge and I have joined Weight Watchers (AGAIN) at the same time. Usually I lose a pound or two the first week on WW and then I get tired of it so fast! But this week I lost 5.4 pounds! And, while I have a LOOONG way to go, I know that these small steps are going to help me as well. Adding prayer to my WW routine has REALLY helped me stick with it and feel much fuller on a daily basis! Plus the water and the stretching first thing in the morning seem to give me more energy to get up and face the day! Thanks so much for putting this out there for people like me to find and follow! God’s blessings!

All of these small steps are going well for me. This is so doable and motivating. Thanks

Fruits and vegs are already a main staple in my diet. They are so delicious and refreshing. Our farmers market is open now and we go every Saturday, coming home with a bounty of farm fresh produce!

  • Shawna says:

What’s going well for me is being encouraged by God’s Word to continue making positive lifestyle choices. I feel like I’m learning to be trusted with the small things, so later God can trust me to be diligent and faithful in bigger things.

I think this is all working very well. I am most rebellious of taking 20 minutes to eat without multi-tasking (I am a nurse, you know!) But it works, I really can eat less and feel satisfied, so the Holy Spirit is using that to encourage me to continue with it. It still feels selfish at times. I have been doing it at every meal, not just breakfast, and my natural mind screams “That’s a WHOLE HOUR you just lost!” But God revealed to me that it’s not lost… just reinvested!

I know it is His will for me to be in good health and prosper, even as my soul prospers, and eating this way will lead to good health. My heart and physical body know it, my soul knows it, so my mind will have to bend to His will soon enough! I’m praying that God continue to teach me and grow me in this area. I’m not selfishly doing any of this: it is investing in His kingdom as well, and it will minister to my husband and children to have a wife and mother with more energy, better endurance, and longer life!

I just want to say how blessed I feel. I actually am starting to feel the difference in my health. I don’t know about anyone else, but I totally need the “reinforcement days”. I can be stubborn and forgetful, so those two items can make it very difficult to form new, positive habits. These daily steps are short enough that they are doable, and and the same time – the perfect reminder for me. Thank you, Father, for leading me to this website. May I continue to take back my temple for your honor and glory.

I really feel motivated to stay with this. I am coming up to 60 and after years of compulsive eating and dieting, a 12 Step Programme and a new acceptance of myself as I am, I believe God led me to your website. I agree He loves us as we are but I know being obese is not good for me nor God’s will for my life, so I am trusting in Him to help me to lose weight in a sane way. In the past, whenever I attempted to do this it would lead back into the obsessions about weight, which I had been relieved of by the grace of God. Inevitably, these obsessions lead back to breaking the diet and a return to binge eating. This time, there is no obsession, just a trust in God to lead me where I need to go. Thank you, Kim.

I also want to thank Shawna. As I reviewed my progress today, one of the areas I’m failing in is mindful eating because I, too, am busy and a multi-tasker, which includes eating. So, before I read your comments, Shawna, I had committed to not sit at the computer or watch TV whilst eating. This is my normal practice and I am eating anything BUT mindfully when I do that. So, today is going to be different, one day at a time.

    God bless you all.

So… I do not like green tea. Yes, I will try it again but…. How do you feel about herbal teas? I like flavored tea like Celestial Lemon Zinger and etc. Oh, I laughed at the “Taste buds change” line. How many times did I tell my children that? Haha But it is so true!
