Note: This article was written by my fiance’, Mike Taylor. He recently saw a clip of Susan Boyle’s performance on Britain’s Got Talent and was very inspired by Susan’s bold confidence in the face of a skeptical audience.

If you haven’t seen it, click below to view the clip. Mike’s take on her performance follows after.

Susan Boyle Silences the Doubters and Critics

by Mike Taylor

By now you have probably heard of Susan Boyle of Scotland; if not allow me to enlighten you.

Susan is a 47 year old lady who has been blessed with a voice of an angel. She has been singing since the age of twelve but not necessarily in the public venue.

She has recently jumped into the public viewfinder (Nationally/Internationally 4/2009) by way of the American Idol British equivalent “Britain’s Got Talent”.

When you first look at Ms. Boyle, your impression of her being able to sing is not a favorable one. She may remind you of Aunt Bee of the old Andy Griffith show by the way she dresses. Her gait is rather awkward, sort of a matter-of-fact type walk. In an effort to be as sensitive as I can, her face leaves something to be desired and she appears to be much older than 47.

During one of her interviews she admitted to never being kissed and you couldn’t help but feel sorry for her which is probably misplaced sorrow because God certainly has Ms. Boyle’s back.

When Ms. Boyle speaks it is with bold confidence. During part of her interview, she was about to speak on faith but that part was edited out. She appears to be a very happy woman and seems to have a spiritual anointing of some kind.

As she approached the stage to bellow out her song, you could feel the smug, judgmental attitude of the judges and the audience. They just knew the next “William Hung” had just taken the stage; the cameraman did an excellent job in capturing the audience faces before and after Ms. Boyle sang.

After her staggering performance she simply attempted to exit stage left and almost got off the stage before the speechless judges had a chance to call her back.

I believe she was offered a contract that night by Simon Cowell or from another producer in the audience. I don’t believe she accepted it because I have since learned that she has many offers since then.

This is a very inspiring and encouraging message from God that you/we should never judge others on looks alone and we should never allow others to put us down with their judgmental, “bigger-than-God” attitude. If it was left up to the audience she would have never been given a chance.

God has blessed each and everyone of us with a gift or two. Do not hide your gift under a barrel because people snicker and are bold enough to laugh in your face because they can’t see what God has nurtured in you.

Just continue to trust in God and sing your song of praise to him within and out.

NOTE: You will probably play this clip over and over again as it will certainly bless your heart and lift your spirit.
