Day 15: Christian Weight Loss Scripture
Every day in the month of April, I will post an encouraging scripture on my website that I hope will instruct and inspire you on your weight loss journey.
Today’s focus scripture is taken from Psalm 5:3:
My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD;
In the morning I will direct it to You,
And I will look up.
One of the most important principles I teach with the Take Back Your Temple process is to anchor yourself in God. However, I also know that it is the step, along with renewing the mind, that many people skip with their Christian weight loss efforts. This is a mistake.
See, with all the stress and temptations in the world, you need to be anchored to deal with these negative forces in a healthy way. Without anchoring, you will be pulled in multiple directions and end up doing only what is easy and convenient, whether it is in your long-term best interest or not.
Without anchoring, the world dictates to you what to do rather than you teaching it what to do – guided by your Father’s wise counsel. As Deuteronomy 4:7 says, “For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the LORD our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him?”
In today’s scripture, the Psalmist says that in the morning, he directs his voice toward the Lord and that he looks up. I can’t think of a better way to start your morning than to talk to your Father in prayer – and listening for his voice as he talks to you. Even if you can only manage 10 minutes to start, it will set the tone for your entire day.
By setting this time aside, you are communicating to God and yourself that you are putting him first in all things.
Starting your morning in prayer is a wise thing to do because the Father knows what challenges you are going to face that day. And through prayer, he can give you the strength you need to face them. He will also give you the ability to glorify him (demonstrate his character) in everything you say and do.
Remember in the Lord’s prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) how Jesus asked the Father to lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil? That is definitely a request to make in your daily prayer time because you do not want to have to fight any unnecessary battles with others or yourself.
When you seek the Lord in the morning, your spirit is refreshed and you find yourself being more optimistic and faith filled.
You also gain a higher view of life when you look up. You recognize that getting healthy is not just about you, but having the ability to make a more positive impact on the people around you.
You face life with your head held high, with courage, determined to do what it takes to reach your goal, glorifying God in body and spirit!
Be blessed in health, healing, and wholeness,

Thank you so, so much for this website and great, holy and wonderful information. I have been looking for something like this for days, and maybe weeks. I thank you & GOD that I found it today. I know that the “BIBLE” and HIS WORD is the beginning of healing through anything, but just didn’t have the resources to know where to look.
THank you so much,
Hi Bonnie,
Wow, thank you so much for your kind words on my website! I am smiling and giving all praise to God for giving me the opportunity to share with others what he is teaching me. Yes I agree – the bible is the source of truth and you must learn what it says to truly grab hold of the abundant life God wants us all to have.
God bless you!
