Thank you so much for that podcast, it was so enlighting, the sad part is that I know what to do but getting it done is a real challenge for me, so please Pray for me as so much is going on and finding comfort in some food is what is giving me what I need right now…

Wonderful, Valerie – thank you for stopping by to share the impact God’s word is having in your life. It truly is a feast!

  • Both of you awesome women of God have blessed me tremendously. I’m so grateful to the Holy Spirit for leading me to this “meal” of God’s logos and rhema words. I have tried to lose weight for over 30 years, being successful but only temporarily. I believe this podcast has strengthened me to stay focused to my health goals.

    • Kimberly Taylor says:

Thank you for your feedback, Denise! May God continue to prosper you and guide you in health as your soul prospers!

  • Robyn Yahola says:

My problem is late night eating when I’m working and I eat to stay awake.

  • Denise VARGA says:

Very good advice. I’m one of the speed eaters! I don’t know where it comes from. When I actually slow down and enjoy the food and the company you are in, if it’s a human being, or Holy Spirit guiding you, it truly helps you realize when you are full and satisfied. S A N E.

  • Terry M says:

Hi Kim, I have been progressively listening to the podcasts of Stirring Words over the past several days. I am not sure how to put this without sounding cliche or overly dramatic.
I have spent about 24 years losing weight, gaining weight, etc and each time I lose I always gain more back than what I originally had weighed. Currently I am about 235 lbs with a peak of 256 lbs. I have gotten down as low as 175 lbs some 20 years ago. I have recently participated in
a weight loss program which has helped me lose quite a bit. But I have felt there is something missing. My ‘why’ has been way too shallow – very surface. I have needed to get to the heart (the root) of this extremely frustrating area of my life.
I am 56 years old – a pastor’s wife, mother of 5 (4 boys/1girl – all married), grandmother to 4, Full-time job. I have a lot going on in all these areas that cause general and very specific stress in my life.
I accepted Christ as my personal Savior when I was 7. I WANT TO GLORIFY GOD WITH MY BODY. But after all the failures over the past 24 years I am extremely scared to even try again. Your podcasts have been so encouraging.

I guess I am reaching out to you to: first say THANK YOU SO MUCH (I can’t say this enough) for your podcasts. I am so THANKFUL God led me to you and Judi. This is truly the missing ‘piece’ in my life. Although I have confessed my sin in the past, my connection between overeating and God have stopped there.
Secondly, I am truly reaching out for help. Part of me does not want to try again. The Spiritual battle, past successes/failures and ultimate complete frustration, fear and discouragement does not allow me to try again. Nevertheless, I am reaching out in obedience to God because I know I am ultimately living in sin (gluttony) and I cannot be used of God to the fullest with this in my life (for multiple reasons). Honestly, I don’t know where (or how) to go from here. I have never made a connection that my emotional eating is in reality a lack of trust in my Lord to Glorify Himself in and thru me in the midst of some general and then some pretty major specific stuff in my life.
Anyways, I wanted to reach out for help.
Thanks so much for your time.
    In Christ’s Love,
    Terry M

Hi Terry – Thank you for writing! I will pass on your comments about our podcast to Judi – we truly appreciate them.

Regarding your eating issues, you wrote something very telling: “Part of me does not want to try again. The Spiritual battle, past successes/failures and ultimate complete frustration, fear and discouragement does not allow me to try again.”

The word “allow” caught my attention. You wrote these things do not “allow” you to try again. My sister, you are giving away your power to choose (your agency) to “these things.” These things have no power over you except that which you choose to give them! They are not stopping you; you are stopping you.

Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.” So your conclusion that you will not try again is a matter of the heart, not anything else. It indicates your heart desire is to stay the same at the moment above seeking God’s will for your life. What you value in life plays out in your daily thoughts and decisions.

I recommend checking out these articles as a starting point on the heart issue:

Ministering to a Hard Heart (Prayer)
      Confronting the Lies of Rebellion

Remind yourself that God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness…and being willing to submit this issue to Him, first in prayer, then seek Him for wisdom each day, knowing that He will give you the strength each day to obey what He tells you to do.

That requires repenting of any pride that makes you want to maintain an image of having it all together – presenting a golden self-image to people, if you will. But knocking down that golden image puts you in a position of humility before God. Your body is HIS temple. You are the manager of it. God can do far more through you than you ever could by yourself.

I am praying for the Lord to open up your eyes to the true nature of this issue and that He give you a new heart in this matter.

  • Debbie J says:

The Lord lead me to listen to these podcasts! Praise him! I had lost 115 pounds over the last 1 1/2 years with inspiration from the Lord and Take back my temple and Kimberly! I’ve been going through a tough time the past 2 months, my Mom got I’ll and passed away, my husband had an injury and was off his feet for a couple weeks. I was struggling with a plateau before all of this but in the past couple months I couldn’t eat as well or exercise as often because of being pulled in so many directions to the hospital, appointments, funeral arrangements , not sleeping well . I’ve gained a few pounds back.
But listening to the first podcast this morning on anchoring in Christ, was a gift from God. Like he was speaking to me!
I will continue listening to all of them the coming weeks to help get me focus on God’s plan for me and my temple!
Praise God and thank you Kimberly and Judi for your faithful inspiration!

  • Wendy Bowes says:

Thank you so much for lighting the path out of spiritual darkness in this area of reliance on food.
As I reflected on a verse that I could cling to,in my moments when sugar is calling my name ,I realized God had already given me a verse today
    Psalm 143:8
“Cause me to hear Your loving kindness in the morning for on You do I lean and in You I trust.
Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk for I lift up my inner self to You .”

I am learning to slow down and enjoy the every day moments with Him .

God bless you ,Kim and Judi !

    • Kimberly says:
